SUNRISE, Fla. - The Devils,
who play Game 7 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Florida Panthers Thursday night at the BankAtlantic Center, would face either the Philadelphia Flyers or Washington Capitals in the next round.
The Devils cannot face the Rangers in Round 2.
If the Rangers defeat the Ottawa Senators in their seventh game, the Devils would meet the Flyers if they can get past the Panthers.
Goalie Jose Theodore,
who was unable to play in Game 6 for the Panthers, took part in the team’s morning skate today and will start Game 7
The Panthers had three goalies on the ice – Theodore, Scott Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom. However, Theodore gets the start.
“I expect him to go out and do what he’s done for us all year,
” coach Kevin Dineen said.
He’s given us credibility and stability. He deserves to start if he can go.”
Defenseman Jason Garrison, who missed three games with a lower body injury, said he was ready to play. Although he said it would officially be a game time decision, he is almost assured of playing in Game 7.
“Garrison and Jose Theodore look positive
that they’ll be able to play,” Dineen said.
Garrison spoke of his injury.
“It was something that over time I was dealing with
” Garrison explained.
“It just got to the point where I was probably going to be a liability on the ice. I just needed a little time and this is probably the right timetable. I’m looking forward to getting back.
“I healed good. The (medical) staff did a good job with me. I’m just looking forward to playing,”
